Are electronic signatures legally binding?
Yes. Under the federal ESIGN Act (2000) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), electronic signatures carry the same legal weight as ink signatures for most business and personal documents in all 50 US states. Some documents — such as wills and certain family-law filings — still require traditional execution or notarization.
How do my signers sign the document?
Each signer receives an email with a private signing link and a 6-digit security code. They review the document in the browser, consent to sign electronically, adopt their signature, and complete their fields. No app download or account is needed.
What proof do I get that the document was signed?
Every completed document includes a certificate of completion listing each signer, their email, the signing timestamps, and the complete audit trail (viewed, consented, signed events with IP addresses). The final PDF is hashed (SHA-256) and can be cryptographically sealed so any later modification is detectable.
What is the difference between eSign and online notarization?
Electronic signature is you and your counterparties signing a document — sufficient for most contracts, NDAs, leases, and agreements. Notarization adds a commissioned notary public who verifies identity and witnesses the signing, which certain documents (affidavits, powers of attorney, real-estate documents) require. Notaron offers both: free eSign, and live online notarization when you need it.
How is this different from DocuSign?
For sending a document to be signed, the flow is the same: upload a PDF, place signature fields, add signers, send.
